“Students learn from their teachers, but they should know that their teachers also learn from them. That’s the magic of the teaching-learning process. To fellow mentors, teach with passion because we have innumerable roles to play–friend, sibling, parent, counselor, entertainer, party planner, designer, psychic, detective, etc. To students, love your teachers simply because teaching is not an occupation; it’s a vocation. I am a teacher, and this is my advocacy.” -Flip, 27, Mandaluyong

“Hello, I’m Vanessa. I have always dreamed of an empowered state, unencumbered by the unnecessary evils of delays, red tapes, biases, political clout, and many more. I have longed for a progressive nation where everybody’s welfare, safety, security, and access to health & education is prioritized over dogma and stigma. I am for a secular Philippines, where correct, factual information is the basis for the nation’s and population’s development, where there is neutrality regardless of matters of faith and belief, where the laws and governments rule instead of families and dynasties and men in capes, and where barriers between classes and castes will be broken down – all for the realization of excellence across all individuals involved.
Through a secular nation, we could all share equal opportunity for human rights. Regardless of your gender, gender preference, or choice of gender, you shall benefit from an open-minded society, willing to accept you and provide you with all you need, with arms wide-open. Through a progressive Philippines, Sexual / Reproductive Health will be a discussion point, not a hushed taboo – discrimination against those who have had unplanned pregnancies, those who suffer STDs, and those who may have been unwillingly abused will not exist. They will be treated with care, with the same, consistent care given to those who had normal, wanted pregnancies and those who suffer other diseases. They will have access to the care they deserve. Aside from this, one could be free to express one’s self through any media. We would live in an open-source world. Information and opportunity will be free, for all.
There will be no hierarchy who would prevent progression and development just because it is against their personal interpretations. There will be no red tapes on the passing and approval of bills and laws which promote better living conditions. Science and Technology will be taught to, and experienced by all. There will be no omission of practical knowledge, instead, there will be a huge increase in the flow of intelligence.
I have dreamed of an empowered state, and as a Filipino Freethinker, as a Reproductive Health Advocate, as a woman, and as a responsible citizen, I am sharing my dream with you. And hopefully, together, we could take action!
Promote equality. Promote innovation. Enjoy your rights! Promote a secular Philippines.
We may have not started the fire, but, as long as we have the passion, and the will and initiative to put real action, our efforts will not be all in vain. ” –Nessa, 24, Paranaque
“Nowadays when consumer activities affect the state of the environment negatively, renewable energy is very ideal as it is generated naturally from resources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biogas, and hydro. I’m Jeff. A soon-to-be Physicist, a gamer, a Snickers-addict, a word-lover, and a Renewable Energy Advocate.” –Jeff,22, Malabon
“About me? To be honest with you guys, I am a typical gay person but I chose to be decent dahil yun ang gusto ko at tingin kong tama and of course lalong lalo na siempre pa dapat lang dahil Teacher ako hehe! I am so cool, parang barkada ko lang yung mga studyante ko, I’m very productive person, every time I do some task or deeds, i will make a plan first before I go for it. I’m the type of person that tells frankly. I love and I protect my friends! Kayang kaya ko maging single for the looongest time basta anjan lang yung mga kaibigan ko na halos tinuturing ko ng kapatid. I’m very fond in listening to music, Siguro kasi pangarap kong maging singer pero hanggang pangarap na lang ata yun haha! I love karaoke! Lalong lalo na kapag kasama ang mga friends at power sing-galore ever at tamang chill at inuman lang basta dapat masaya lagi. Happy-happy lang. Naalala ko din pala since elementary hanggang college, lagi akong representative ng school namin sa mga poster making/painting contest and editorial cartooning, wala lang na-share lang hehe! I just simply love arts yun na! I’m a very happy, outgoing and friendly type of person as well. Super love ko ang mga comedy bars at kung anik anik pang source ng happiness! kaya naman, I love YTM kasi yung mga seryosong problema/topics eh ang easy at very-very light lang i-discuss here! iba! I couldn’t explain it but basta iba! kaka-iba! Exceptional! It’s just really out of this world! hehe, Saka sort of fun and entertainment na din kumbaga and most of all laging may maiiwang ngiti sa mga wagas at havs na havz na mga advise ni Madma! ❤
And finally for my advocacy, Sabi nga ni Rizal at ni Whitney Houston “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan” At “I believe the children are our future teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside..♪♫ ♪” Aansave? Waaah, Ayan tuloy parang gusto ko na kantahin toh wahaha charaught! Seriously speaking, I would like to be able to help the street children in our community. The most basic need is to provide them with food, shelter and clothing. I wanted to also help them in their education if possible. In this way, the children would be guided in the right path for their future. Btw, my apology, if this one is pretty long. Thank you for the time you spent reading guys. Have a great wapak day ahead! God bless!” –Allen, 22, Valenzuela

“I am Coco, 24. I am a journalist by degree, a print journalist to be specific. I’ve written for newspaper and magazines to express, inform and entertain at some point in my life. Being read and appreciated by people who need these information is the most fulfilling reward of being a writer. Long ago, print media was the source of information for mass people right before internet, radio and television were born, hence the pioneer amongst. Today, we are surrounded by so many information source mentioned above that people find more interactive and highly accessible which tagged the extinction of print journalism in the coming.
Having experienced how difficult it was to write for newspaper, it pains me that most people are seeing newspapers and magazines mainly as wrapper of commodities rather than a medium of communication. (Well I’m not really against using it as wrappers).
I therefore support and advocate the effort of those writers behind daily broadsheets and newspapers circulating around the nation whom not more than 15% of the total distribution is being read according to TNS Digital Life as of 2012. Newspaper is not dying and still believe it is the most reliable and flexible source of information, a medium that has a “power” of its own and doesn’t literally require “power” or electricity to power on the lives of mass people.” –Coco, 24, Quezon City
