Live na live ang posting ko from Singapore! Shout ouch naman sa akin at sa mga high school barkada ko a.k.a. PEERS! I love you all. Very successful ang first day natin. Gastos pa tayo, guys! 🙂 Sorry naman at medyo late ang post ko ngayon. WOW. Medyo ba ito?! 🙂 Eh kasi naman nasa galaan ako. Alam n’yo na, may kaya. Kayo ba?! Char.:) Whole day din akong nasa Universal Studios. Kapagod. At KALOKA! Nakaka-sosyal ang Singapore, guys! Punta naman kayo dito. Huwag kayong pakupota! WOW! Ang yabang din ha. 🙂 Anyway, tsaka na natin pagusapan ang Singapore-Malaysia trip ko. Abangan n’yo na lang ang pasalubong ko sa inyo.
Moving forward, 7 models na lang ang natitira! Sila na lang ang matitibay na maglalaban-laban para sa titulong Ultimate Grand Winner ng YTMNTM. Last Wednesday, talaga namang naging nakapa-kontrobersyal ng pagkakawala ni Nessa sa YTMNTM! Daming naulol! Hiyang-hiya ang mga aso. Hindi kinaya ng lahat ang shocking na resulta ng last Elimination Night. Ako man ay naloka din. Haaay. Talagang mami-miss ka namin, Nessa. 😦 By the way, si Nessa ang pang-sampu na natanggal sa patok na patok na YTMNTM. Salamat sa pagiging bahagi ng show na ito, Nessa. The ratio of judging is divided into: Panel Judges (50%) and Fan Votes (50%). Lahat ng fans ay pwedeng bumoto ISANG BESES kada araw! Tuluy-tuloy lang ang suporta sa favorite finalist n’yo everyday. jetti is an editorial for swimwear. she’s consistent. and for the second week in a row, yung cheekbones nya ang nangungusap ng todo sa akin. 🙂

Kudos thru you, Madma! Alam kong di madaling mag-blog habang nasa bongga at sosyal na out-of-these-countries na bakasyon! Ang best mo din talaga and not to mention, dedicated… Palakpakan nyo naman si Mother Madma.
In all fair, nararamdaman kong konti na lang, as in dalawa na lang ang matanggal, sobrang mauulol na tayo sa labanan! Come that point, it could be anyone’s game na. Anyway,
TAAS nila:
Jetti – strong. Fierce. Consistent.
Angelica – walang ibang pumasok sa isip ko kundi si Lady Gaga sa vid nya ng paparazzi.
Flip – A for effort; love the styling. Gusto ko yung vest mo, I’d wear that!
SAKTO Lang sina:
Jeff – ang strength ng entry mong ito ay nasa muka. I love the expression in your eyes. Yung pose, too dancer-y. At naabala ako sa pagkakupot ng mga daliri sa paa.
Coco – wuw! Best photo mo to so far. As in, parang lumalaban ka na. Di pa rin best pero way better than all ur previous photos lalo na compared to pambahay entry mo! Dyos ko, wag mo ng uulitin yon!
Paris – keri ko na. May drama ang surrounding mo, ngunit di namin makita ang mata at leeg, which are crucial alam mo yan. Pero gusto ko ang pag-project mo dito. Naabala lang ako ng slight sa crotch area. Hahaha

Ayon kay Lauren Bull (2010, http://www.wetpaint.com/americas-next-top-model/articles/what-is-high-fashion), ang “high fashion” ay salitang nagdedescribe sa “fashion” na “trend-setting, unique, and exclusive.” Ito ay sinasabing ibang term para sa “haute couture” (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/high+fashion) Ngunit, binanggit ni Bull na ayon kay Tyra Banks sa palabas na ANTM “high fashion doesn’t have to refer what the model is wearing.”
Sa nasabing palabas, pinapakitang “kicking one leg in the air while looking forlorn can be far more eye-catching…and editorial.” Kumpara sa “commercial” kung saan “safe or familiar” ang hitsura ng mga modelo/litrato. Para kay Bull, “we’d also argue that high fashion often has much more to do with environment than expense or quality.” Dagdag niya, “Sometimes in this big ol’ fashion world, low and high are just synonyms for easy and difficult.”
Mula dito, masasabi ko na hindi lamang ang mga damit ang kailangang punahin sa mga kalahok. Kailangan ding tingnan kung paano “dinala” ang kanilang mga kasuotan, lugar ng kanilang paligid (setting), at kabuuang kalidad ng kanilang litrato. 🙂
KEMPEE: base sa mga nauna kong pahayag, hindi ko ito macoconsider na highfashion. para sa akin, ito ay mas commercial. walang difficulty sa litrato na ito. walang exclusivity sa kasuotan at hindi mataas ang kalidad ng kabuuang litrato (ang background at iba pang bagay sa paligid ay hindi nakatulong sa hinihinging highfashion). at dahil dito, para sa akin, ang entry mo ang pinakamahina. Sa tingin ko, kung ang litrato mo ay nakazoom lang sa mukha mo, nagpakita ka ng malaking expression (maaaring gulat, galit, etc), at nagkaroon ng magandang texture ang iyong litrato sa pamamagitan ng post editing, papasok ito sa highfashion category.
COCO: may attempt ang ipinadala mong litrato. ang pagtangkang pagbali sa leeg at paglagay ng kung ano-ano sa paligid at katawan mo ay magandang senyales na ginagagap mo ang tema para sa round na ito. ngunit sa palagay ko hindi naachieve ang konsepto. at sa tingin ko, sa mundo ng modeling, kapag nakitang failed ang attempt mo, macoconsider na failed ang kabuuang litrato mo at pag nangyare ito, on the spot ay sisigawan ka ng creative director mo. haha Naging maganda siguro ang litrato na ito, sa aking palagay, kung nakablack jeans ka na lang, same posing or mas matigas then black and white na photo na maaaring may spot light ka lang na sinusundan.

I think may sariling definition si Madma ng High fashion. Wag tayong bumatay kay Tyra. It’s subjective parin. Anyone can define high fashion in their own way. Hindi si Tyra ang Dyos. Si madma ang dyos.
True! Bawat isa naman ay may sarisariling definition sa mga bagaybagay. But since sa tingin ko galing ang konsepto ng YTMNTM sa ANTM, may factor ang meaning ni Tyra ng highfashion. Pero maganda din marinig kung ano nga ba talaga ang highfashion dito sa YTM (from marvin and sa judges) 😉 pero sa iyo ba, ano definition ng highfashion? Mali ba si tyra para sa iyo, singlecent?
Iba-iba talaga ang definition ng bawat tao sa “high fashion.” May mga definition sa internet, books at mga experts pero at the end of the day, iba-iba opa rin. Gaya nga ng sabi ko sa una pa lang, ayokong ikahon ang mga tao sa isang definition. Malaki ang tiwala ko sa mga audience at judges ng YTMNTM. Alam kong matatalino ang mga tao dito so hindi ko kailangang i-define ang lahat ng bagay gaya ng ginagawa sa isang classroom. Tandaan natin, the judging of this show is comprised of 50% fan votes and 50% judges’ vote. Magkasing-powerful lang ang fans and judges. Irespeto natin ang desisyon ng mga judges gaya ng pagrespeto nila sa boto ng mga fans. Modelling is a subjective field. Ang isang larawan ay pwedeng maganda sa iyo pero hindi sa iba. The keyword is “respect.” Salamat. 😉
Una sa lahat…hindi Dyos si Tyra…DIYOSA siya! Ano ba?!
I mean, pasintabi kay Madma a (sorry Madma).. Kung si madma ang dyos, compared naman sa modelling experience and exposure, sino kaya sa INYO ang may credentials para mag”DEFINE” ng high fashion? Subjective siya, pero at the rate you’re going at, ang lakas maka-tanga at init ng ulo ang sinasabi mo.. Kung maliitin mo si Tyra grabe ka! Oo, affected ako..
Kung may ibang definition si madma, hindi siya mag-a-agree at sasabihin ito, I quote:
“Salamat sa mga information mo about high fashion! I LOVE IT! At least mare-remind ang mga fans sa do’s and dont’s.”
It’s not subjective pag dating sa mga ganung requirements. Yung quality ng requirements na yun ang subjective.

Wala akong strict definition and requirements as to kung ano ba dapat. Sa comment ko na “Salamat sa mga information mo about high fashion! I LOVE IT! At least mare-remind ang mga fans sa do’s and dont’s.” Ang gusto ko lang sabihin ay napaka-insightful ng comment ni MarkGanda at napakarami n’yang pointers na binigay na makakatulong ng malaki sa ating mga models sa mga susunod na laban.
Chill lang and enjoy. After all, 50/50 naman ang hatian ng judges and fans sa nagiging resulta for each round.

1. Jeff: Pwede ka bang murahing, tangena napanganga ako sa entry mo. Super Pro level. grabehhh! Krass na kita. Charothhh!!!! haha. Seriously, I can see this ad sa mga magazines.
2. Jetti. Pasabog din to ah. hilig mong mag reveal ng balat teh. Laveet. Very high fashion din. and magazine-sellable. ahahaha,
3. Angelica. I love the mystery of the pic. Pwedeng pang cover ng album. Congrats dear, ur back in the game!
4. Flip. Maganda ang imaginative concept nito. High fashion mickey mouse si koya!
5. Paris. Ok lang. Lebel. pero di rin ganoon ka strong. Beach pic na nomonnn?! wala nang iba?! kasawa din eh. tsaka lumiit yung torso please. or i say ang ikli tignan. Bakat titi din. di nakatulong yung pag hukot. 😦

Sa tingin ko, mas highfashion ito kung hindi malinis ang iyong make-up, mas nangungsap ang iyong mga mata (o ikaw bilang modelo) at mas grudgy ang feel ng litrato or mas dramatic pa. I understand na galing din ito sa iisang rolyo (ng film) na nagamit mo na nung unang round. rignt?
FLIP: i love the concept pero sa palagay ko kulang pa. ngunit sa tingin ko, mas effective kung ang ginamit mo ay yung imahe na nasa kanan, yung nakatingin ka sa camera. mas highfashion, mas may emosyon, mas maganda yun para sa akin. sa ngayon kasi, ang nakikita ko ay dinadala ka nung mga tapes (the tapes were wearing you) na sa tingin ko ay dapat hindi mo hinayaan bilang isalang modelo. But the post editing, wardrobe ay very avant-garde na isa sa mga nakapailalim sa umbrella term na high-fashion (avant-garde, high-end fashion at couture)
At ang aking high three (in no particular order):
PARIS: Maganda ang damit, maganda ang ilaw ngunit kulang sa couture. kung siguro mas lumiyad ka pa at ngumanga, this would be perfect! but nobodys perfect. and BTW, be careful sa placement ng mga kamay. parang betlog na sobrang baba yung nasa babang part ng damit mo. hahaha
JEFF: ang lakas mo! nabuhat mo sarili mo. haha ang ganda ng kabuuan ng litrato mo. talagang nangungusap ang mga mata mo at ang buhok mo, ang galing! hindi ako sigurado sa toes mo, okay ba yan o mas okay na nakatip lang. pero baka mas pang feminine yun. di ko alam. haha pero siguro kung mas tight ang jeans mo talagang lalabas na ito sa magazine.
JET: eto, lalabas ito sa magazine o lumabas na? haha ganda ng buhok mo at ang swimsuit! talaga namodel mo. mapapabili ako ng swimsuit dahil sa litrato mo. gusto ko tuloy magswim kahit na umuulan dahil sa iyo. kaya pag nagkasakit ako, ikaw may kasalanan. haha Your left hand (right pag nakatingin ako sa image) is incredible! but your left (right pag ako nakatingin) is not so good placement for me. nasakto siya sa gusot part ng swimsuit mo. para ka tuloy nagayos ng cameltoe. but aside that, this is really highfashion for me!!!

I’m not sure if your clothes are high fashion but maybe for a swimsuit spread, it could be. Konting accessories at medyo fierce na sapatos pa at pak na ito. Paris- This reminds me of Bondi Beach in Sydney. Napakaganda ng vibes ng litratong ito para sakin. May matinding nostalgia ang effect nito sakin kasi ang ganda ng pagkakablue ng background at striking ang white outfit mo. Gaga-esque/Kylie Minogue ang vibe at antaray ng dating. Pwede ko tong makita sa magazine. This reminds me of Grace Coddington’s spread back in September 2007, Vogue sa docu na The September Issue. Yung mejo puting fur sa gilid ang nagdagdag ng luxury sa ensemble mo na nagbigay ng “high fashion” effect, parang white mink fur ang dating. Great job! Good luck!

Mainet ang week na to. Eto ang comment ko. Simple lang naman. So models, here we go. In order:
7. Kempee- Medyo maraming nangyayari sa picture. Di ko alam kung san ako titingin. Model? Yes! Sige bigyan natin ng chance. Pero High Fashion? hmmm No.
6. Flip- Awkward yung pose for me. Mas maganda yung reflection sana. Tapos di bagay sayo yung tapes swirl galore whatever you call it. Macho Machuhan kase at maangas yung itsura mo kaya hindi nagblend yung swirl whatever you call it. Thumbs up yung editing though.
5. Angelica- Maganda yung tema mo. Vintage, naalala ko si Jennelyn Mercado ng pelikulang “Rosario”. Promise. Sya naisip ko. Misteryoso ang larawan mo pero parang medium fashion lang ang inabot. Hindi humigh fashion.
4. Paris- Sa malayo, yes, maganda ang kuha. I-zoom natin, may mga awkward parts. Nabakat ata si jun-jun, not sure ha. Ayokong tingnan. haha. Check nyo naman grabe. May pagka disyerto ang una kong gets.
3. Coco- I think nakabawi ka here. Yung kulay dinala ka. Izoom natin, may itsura ka pala ah, iflaunt mo yan pag nakapasok ka sa next round. Awkward ng onte yung pose pero pag tinitigan mong maige, ay pwede na rin, parang ganun.
2. Jeff- Yes naman! Jeans model ka here I guess. Maganda ang pic, hot ka naman, eh di sige. Bagay naman.
1. Jetti- Di ka na rin nag gegeo esguerra photography. Haha. May sponsor na agad? haha. For the rest of the models, hanap din kayo ng photo studio or photographer para maging quality din gaya nito. =)

jetti- looks like she’s totally bringing it… glamorous style..and that body ummm ummm… it feels like she doesn’t even belong on the crappy background… really standing out…5 stars!
angelica – has a pretty face ans she knows it…smart to use her face as a focal point of the pic… she brings the class to the classic filipina beauty… im not sure about the small mad hater hat though… i think it a bit foreign considering her ensemble… its like she’s reflecting the filipinas trying hard to adapt to colonials…4stars
paris – contrary to angelica… this one knows what to hide on a pic… minimal, but it has a message to show… im not sure but it reminds me of filipino oversees…like mid east…. its just that the view of the beach confuses me… diba wlang beach dun… im not sure…3stars
jeff – this pic is hard to capture… very dynamic..and it’s hard to maintain a pose like that… my dancer from gma… (manuev–sumthing) even tried capturinga photo like this …and believe me we failed a couple of times… nice crisp photo quality and lighting too… 4stars
Keempee – this photo has low quality… a bit blurr… and has no focal point … props are not conceptual and not hard to capture either… it looks like a highschool slogan gone bad… and the guy holding that stick looks like he’s in his undies…. (white tripe on short’s effect) 1 star for me or pwee bang half…
Flip- mickey mouse or lady gaga / but this is artistic really… i think this photo was thought of rehearsed and artistic…. it shows how the mind dynamically works to make something beautiful and unique 4stars!
COCO – i marvel at this guy’s perspective… it’s very artistic and the photo is has and edge too.. this is really waht people should look forward into..the filipino concept and the inticing pose really turns me on… in an artistic way taht is… he’s sexy and yet this photo is also well organized an thought of before capturing..good job! 5 stars tottally ROCKS

Before we start the judging, let me clarify some points.
I no longer need to define what HIGH FASHION is. It is already discussed by MarkGanda in this thread. So refer to his first post (post #15) in this thread for reference. Well said, Mr./Ms./Mrs. MarkGanda. I like your name handle by the way. 😀
I would like to add, however, the question about HIGH FASHION in terms of its subjectivity. Again, as posted before, the degree of difficulty and the trend it sets must be PRESENT in the photo. Those two points MUST BE BOTH present in the photo. Those points aren’t subjected to subjectivity. Subjectivity comes into the picture when we’re judging those two points. Is the pose difficult? Is it trend-setting? Is it new? Beauty isn’t much of a factor here. Edge is.
If Madma has a different definition or criteria for HIGH FASHION, Madma should’ve given us a heads-up as to what it is. Since there weren’t any announcement regarding this, I assume that this round will be basing its criteria for judging high fashion pictures with MY criteria *LoL*.
Again:
1) Degree of difficulty (How hard is the pose? Is it do-able? et. al)
2) Trend-setting Qualities (How new is it? Has it been done before? Is the pose working?)
So as much as possible, we prioritize the garments, and editing of the photos the VERY LEAST and focus MAINLY on the model’s pose and expression.
With that said, let’s start judging:
JETTI – That fabric you are wearing is very unforgiving and yet you worked it. This is hard stuff girl! Your body is gorgeous, yes! I love the way your left hand floats in midair, your sad face pout, your crazy hair, but I’m not so crazy with your right hand’s placement. The whole feel of the photo din’t actually work for me. It looks like you were on a photoshoot break and you went to a corner and was checking out if someone is looking at you while you are fixing your little front wedgie there. This is not your strongest photo, Jetti. With the bar you’re setting week after week, I kinda expected more of you in this round than this photo. Not your strongest but definitely strong compared to the others in this round, no doubt. Yes, unfair or not, you’re in a lot more pressure now than the other contestants here, because you have to out-do yourself every week.
COCO – This is one of your face’s angle. I’m glad that you’re practicing! I like the play of colors and prints, I’m just not happy about the pose. Your right foot got awkwardly cropped. Your left shoe’s shoelace got stuck under the bag. It’s an awkward photo. Not awkward good, but more of awkward awkward. I love that you tried but you just didn’t push the envelope enough. Step it up a notch higher next round if you’re still in. Okay? My main concern here. is yes, you are trying now and fighting, but I’m afraid you started doing that, this late in the competition.
ANGELICA – FIRST OF ALL, NO WRITE-UPS? Hmm. I know it isn’t part of the high fashion criteria I mentioned but this is your SECOND TIME that you didn’t submit any write-ups, Angelica. I’m starting to question your commitment in this. Anyway, with that big minus already, I’d also like to disagree with the other’s comments. THIS IS A PRETTY PICTURE WITH A PRETTY GIRL WEARING PRETTY PEARLS LOOKING AT A PRETTY VINTAGE MIRROR. And that’s it! The CONCEPT is interesting, but the model isn’t. You relied too much on your beauty that your eyes became dead and flat in this shot. I’m not happy with this shot. It’s easily do-able. The concept outshone you. It’s just…pretty.
PARIS – I love this. And I’m so happy that you’re delivering good shots again. You are wearing the clothes here, honey! And you are working it. You are commanding the clothes! I love the body silhouette, the angles your shoulder and elbow made, your lips, your stance, the way your left hand touched your thigh! It all screams high fashion to me. If there’s something that I wish to change in this photo, that’d be your right hand placement. It looks like your cahoochie the way it places down there. Still, WAY TO GO!
JEFF – YOU KNOW HOW TO SMIZE, CHILD! Like your mama Tyra. You’ve proven that every single week. Your eyes draw me in to you every time I look at your pictures. This is a hard pose (because I can already name a few people that I know who can’t do this including me). It takes the right amount of body weight to strength ratio to do this kind of pose, so somebody’s healthy and fit here. You showcased your chest, shoulders, and arms here, which are your selling points also. You’re one hot papi, Jeff. What I don’t love about this picture are your toes. They looked cut off. If you could have shown them a little more or changed the way your legs crossed, this could have topped this round. I love that you’re improving exponentially week after week.
KEEMPEE – AGAIN. NO WRITE-UPS? Your second time with no write-ups? There are texts in the photo you submitted, but that isn’t it, right? Your commitment is questioned, Keempee. Yours and Angelica’s. Anyway, going to your photo, there are so many elements in this photo to look at to the point that it’s confusing. I don’t actually see the high fashion in this photo. It’s more commercial to me. Try to look at magazines and practice in front of a mirror. That’d help you in the next round.
FLIP – I don’t know where to start. Hmm. The black Lady Gaga tape garment is wearing you. If I edit out that garment in this photo, this photo would just be plain weird. Not in a good way weird. The hand placement, the facial expression…it didn’t add up to me. It didn’t work. The only thing that made sense is the garment. And that is, that the garment was wearing you. If you’re not modelling H2T, it shows in the picture– even if it isn’t a full body picture. You should model H2T in shots like this because it shows in the picture no matter how tight the shot is. That could’ve made a difference.

Re: your question on my definition or criteria for HIGH FASHION, I would like to say that I leave it all up to the expertise and knowledge of our prestigious judges. As you may have observed, I am not a fan of posing strict guidelines as to how they should be judging the photos. I just trust their expertise and industry experience which for me are reasonable, fair and acceptable so far. 😉

Tulad ng iba, naniniwala rin ako na ang High-Fashion photo ay hindi makikita sa damit lamang. Malaking bahagi ang ‘pagdadala’ ng modelo o ang kanyang mismong pag-momodelo. Sa mga kalahok, masasabi ba kayong tunay na modelo sa mga larawang ipinasa ninyo? Modelo na karapat-dapat hangaan at tularan?
Kagaya ng nasabi ko na, ipauubaya ko na sa ibang hurado at tagapagkomento ang mga technical na aspekto ng pagmomodelo. Pagtutuunan ko ng pansin ang puso at ang kakayahan ng modelo na mangusap sa pamamagitan ng larawan.
Jetti – As usual, magaling at pamatay nanaman ang larawang ibinahagi mo sa amin. Lagi kang nangunguna sa karerang ito. Patuloy kang pumapangibabaw at nadadaganan ang mga kasama mo, buti sexy ka. Yun nga lang mukhang may iba pang bagay sa pagitan mo at ibang mga kalahok, lumalaki tuloy lamang mo. Ang layo mo na! You’re fierce as ever, ang bagsik! Gusto ko ang paglalahad mo ng istorya sa larawang ito. Yun ang iba sa iyo, you are modeling as if you’re telling a story, hindi basta maka-pose lang . Your picture does paint a thousand words.
Coco – I told you last week na wag ka nang magpasa ng photo kasi I was certain na ikaw ang dapat matanggal…with that photo na may tauban ng baso. Pero ngayon nagpasa ka ng one of the best photos of yours in the competition. Good, I like that, laban! Still, kung magfo-focus tayo sa competition, mahina ka pa rin kumpara sa iba. Hindi ko pa rin nakikita na mananalo ka rito. I like the effort sa damit at pose, pero para saan? Ano ang sense ng photo? Mukha siyang basta pose para sa akin, if you know what I mean.
Angelica – The picture looks really familiar, kaya binalikan ko ang unang photo na ipinasa mo. Kaparehas kasi ng ayos mo, at personally ayaw ko ng nag-uulit ng photo, eh di sana yun at yun na lang din di ba? Still, nakita ko ang kaibahan. Mas mukhang nababalot ng istorya ang larawang ito, mas nangungusap, mas nakakaengganyong pagmasdan , siliping maigi at pag-aralan. Isa ka sa malalakas sa kumpetisyong ito, huwag sanang masayang.
Paris – hmmm..pamatay ang damit at mas nakikita naming na palaban ka talaga sa puntong ito. Pero..hmmm parang nakukulangan pa rin ako. Hindi ko alam kung ako lang, pero dahil sa effort na ipinakita mo, mas mukhang naging high-fashion for me ang pambahay shot mo than this one. It’s cool, as in coolang.

Flip – I appreciate the concept and the effort. But it didn’t occur to me as a high-fashion photo. Looks too contrived, making it weak. Naaintriga ako sa photo sa kanan though, as it could compare better than the main photo, mas mukhang stronger. Ang soft ng dating nung main photo eh, parang hindi bagay, and I don’t get the story you want to convey. But great effort.
Nessa – Lakas mo, naaalala ka pa rin ng iba at name-miss ka nila sa competition. 🙂
